The Oscars 2021 har offentliggjort den såkaldte shortliste over kandidater til nomineringerne i kategorierne Best Original Song og Best Original Score. Oprindeligt skulle den 93. udgave af The Oscars have fundet sted den 28. februar i Dolby Theatre i Hollywood, men som følge af coronapandemien er den blevet udskudt og afholdes i stedet den 25. april.
Shortlisten bliver senere barberet ned til de endelige nominerede, fem i hver kategori, som offentliggøres den 15. marts.
Ved sidste års prisuddeling gik prisen for Best Original Score til Hildur Guðnadóttir for Joker, og Elton John vandt kategorien Best Original Song med ” (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again” fra Rocketman. De optrædende ved sidste års show talte blandt andet Eminem, Billie Eilish, Elton John og Janelle Monáe.
